When the 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM pre-meal hunger monster hits. I turn to my newest, and may I say delicious and satisfying, green machine!
Ingredients:
1/2-1 cup water
1/2-1 whole carrot
1/4-1/3 whole cucumber, with peel
2-3 cups dark, leafy greens (usually kale or spinach)
1/2 frozen banana
1/2-1 cup frozen berries or other fruit
1/2 cup Chobani Plain Greek Yogurt (low-fat or non-fat)
2 Tbsp GROUND flax seed
1 packet Truvia Natural Sweetener
Instructions:
Pile it all into the beautiful VITAMIX and blend, blend, blend. This blender combines all these ingredients so well, you can't even taste the veggies!
Tips and Tricks:
Tip #1- I highly recommend the Greek Yogurt, because of its high protein content. Easy, natural way to get the protein without all the meat.
Tip #2- Flax seed is packed full of fiber, protein, and GOOD fats. Blessings for your brain, heart, and skin. Make sure to use Ground flax seed instead of Whole flax seed. Your body cannot always break down and digest the wonderful things this little gem has to offer unless it is already ground up. The whole seeds will just go straight through your system and out the back end!
Tip #3- UTILIZE YOUR FREEZER. The best part is that you can stock up on pretty much all the ingredients by freezing for longer preservation (2-3 weeks before freezer burn starts to set in). Simply buy your fresh, organic fruits and veggies, clean, dry, and store in airtight baggies in freezer (kale, spinach, collard greens, bananas, berries, peaches, pineapple, etc.) Much easier than having it go bad in the fridge before you can use it all.
